The Community Violence Prevention Alliance (CVPA) is a collaboration of churches, non-profits and community groups that are working together to reduce gun violence in black and brown communities throughout Portland. CVPA seeks to address the root causes of violence in Black and Brown communities through four pillars of work: Prevention, Intervention, Community, and Opportunity. Our primary activities engage youth ages 8 through 20 in: mentorship; STEAM programming; summer programming; health education; and providing opportunities to engage youth in activities that broaden their understanding of the many positive opportunities available in their future.
